The day is Thursday, August 31 2023 and 20 strangers are about to embark on a journey of love, passion, drama and…

Loool, let me stop being dramatic.

But I can’t help it! We did it! We had our first Mingle Space™ and it was even better than I imagined!

PS: There are going to be a lot of exclamation points in this post … because I’m stupid excited!!!)

First things first, WE SOLD OUT!

That in and of itself impressed me. I’m an optimistic pessimist (sue me) and I spent every non-work hour fretting and pestering Sheila Ojei with worst-case scenarios. But in the end, we had to turn some people away which boggled my poor little brain (if this is you don’t worry you’ll get priority invites to the next one).

Thank you! to everyone who trusted us to put together a fantastic evening!

Second, our agenda worked!

Like any good host, Sheila and I were very particular about how the evening would go. We wanted to make sure that everyone had a good time and so we built in activities to remove some of the friction and awkwardness of being in a room with 20 people you’ve never met before. And let me tell you … the choices we made just slapped!

We over-indexed a bit on the number of activities, so there were a bunch of things we didn’t have time to do before we had to call it a night, but the ones we did do had people arguing, shouting and laughing.

Or as our host (Uzo the amazing founder of El Padrino) put it,

we were the loudest quiet group she’s ever had.

No phone pressing, no loud music, just pure non-stop good vibes!

And before you think I’m just making this up to get you excited, here’s some of the feedback from the night!

So what comes next?

Well duh, we’re going to have another one obviously! So if you missed the first one … Sign Up here or using the form below to be the first to get invited

Wait … you’re still here? I guess you really want to know about our long-term plans for Mingle. And so that means I need to be serious for a moment.

To be honest, we don’t know for sure. We have some really solid ideas, but for now, the most important thing is building something that actually helps people feel more connected. And in our small way, I believe we’ve achieved that with our first event. Our next step is to figure out if we can consistently reproduce it. And if we are able to do that, then we can start thinking about scale.

So for now, enjoy the events and join us for the next episode of Mingle Spaces … coming soon to a theater near you!
